OC THRIVES • October 31, 2026 • HALLOWEEN EDITION

Hello, neighbors.

A fresh look at what matters in Los Alamitos, Rossmoor, Seal Beach, and Cypress.

A little Halloween spirit goes a long way

Happy Halloween, neighbors. Whether your plans include costumes, a bowl by the front door, or a quiet evening in, we’re glad to share this place with you.

Los Alamitos has been celebrating neighborhood creativity through its 2026 Halloween Decorating Contest. The city lists Most Creative, Most Fall Festive, and Spookiest divisions—three different ways to put some personality into a front yard. Take a look at the city’s contest page for its neighborhood celebration of fall creativity.

If you head out tonight, keep the evening easy on one another: leave room on the sidewalk, enjoy displays from public paths, and take your time through neighborhood streets.

One useful note before bed: daylight saving time ends overnight. At 2 a.m. Sunday, November 1, clocks go back to 1 a.m. Check any clocks that need a manual adjustment.
